IKEA Releases the YPPERLIG Collection from HAY.
“It’s fair to say that HAY and IKEA are two very different companies. But when we started talking to IKEA it became very clear that we shared many perspectives on design.” Rolf Hay, co-founder of HAY
HAY have been the one of the standout Danish furniture brands of the last few years, at least in terms of the residential market. Founded in Copenhagen in 2002, HAY has seen huge success in a time when Scandinavian influenced interiors are at the height of popularity.
The husband and wife duo behind the brand, Rolf & Mette Hay have now turned their hand to helping Swedish furniture giant IKEA come up with a collection that seeks to ‘challenge people’s perception of IKEA quality and design.
The YPPERLIG collection consists of over 30 pieces that celebrate the beauty of basics. It includes sofa, side tables, a day bed and HAY’s own take on the iconic IKEA bag.
HAY take on the IKEA Frakta Bag
“It’s one of the most known and used IKEA products, but one that no one appreciates as a design object,” said Mette Hay.
“We kept its measurements and updated it in new patterns and colours. It’s a celebration of this iconic product.”
You can shop the collection online and in select stores from today.
