May 18th 2017 – Supreme x Artek Drops in Store
Back in February we read that New York streetwear brand Supreme were releasing a special edition Artek 60 Stool. The 3 legged design classic stool, originally created by Alvar Aalto in 1933 is one of our favourite pieces so it’s needless to say, we were intrigued.
Founded in 1994 by James Jebbia, Supreme’s list of collaborations is long and highly celebrated. Their latest collab with Finnish company Artek sees the brand update the iconic 60 Stool by adding a striking checkerboard graphic and Supreme’s famous box logo to the circular seat.
The 60 Stool is an archetypal example of the Finnish designers skillful relationship with birchwood. The stools curved wooden seat and smooth leg structure resulted in a functional and refined piece of furniture that has been in continuous production since it’s release. Now produced by Artek, the 60 Stool is now part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The Supreme x Artek 60 Stool went on sale in select Supreme stores in the USA and UK today and retails at £248.
