Instagram has come under fire in recent times for it’s apparent unwillingness to tackle the growing “bot” problem on the platform. The issue is real and the criticism just. However, Instagram is still (for me) the go-to for daily inspiration. Look past the abundance of spam accounts whose content focus changes as often as their ‘following’ count and you’ll discover a community of individuals worth investing some real time in.
Social media is for sharing and with that in mind here are the accounts providing me with interior inspiration right now. Some are big, some are small and some aren’t even Interior Design accounts. What they have in common though is that they’re real people, creating honest content and doing it better than most.
This article is inspired by “5 Male Lifestyle Instagram Accounts You Should Be Following” by Bloomzy. Thanks once again for the feature and the kind words, Emma.
@VanityVintage is a visual journal by Davy, an Antwerp based minimalism enthusiast. I discovered Davy through another of my Instragram favourites, @Tibods and was instantly hooked. His feed is a treasure trove of design featuring classic furniture pieces from the likes of Charles & Ray Eames and Poul Henningson as well as contemporary items from The Bouroullec Brothers and Hay Design.
Davy’s profile features a bright aesthetic and a minimal feel that is a visual treat for your eyes. This is definitely an account to follow, even if an original Eames fiberglass chair doesn’t float your boat.
Charlotte of @lepetitfika is a French born, London based blogger with a passion for minimal interiors, coffee & travel. Since we have that in common, it’s no surprise that I’ve been an avid follower ever since I stumbled across her feed.
With a beautifully tonal aesthetic that shows off her love of Scandinavian design and a collection of stunning homeware items, Charlotte’s feed is packed full of inspiration. Look out for her Eames House Bird, Menu Concrete Lamp and wooden birds from Architect Made.
With a clean and refined Scandinavian sense of design, @fredrikrisvik is possibly best known for his enviable wardobe of minimal essentials, including pieces from Acne Studios, Common Projects, No Nationality and Comme Des Garcon. For me though, it was his home interior that first caught my eye.
Fitting perfectly with the monochromatic colour palette of his Instagram grid is a home that perfectly mixes a Scandi influence with mid century American design classics. His George Nelson bench and Harry Bertoia diamond chair are among my favourite pieces. Don’t get me wrong, I come back to Fredrik’s feed time and time again to see his wonderful collection of clothing but I’m always looking out for another interiors shot.
On particularly hectic working days I take a moment to visit Denise’s @aboutthishaus account and mentally transport myself to one of her calming interior scenes. Her strikingly minimal home features some truly stunning furniture pieces in predominantly white rooms.
The shots above perfectly sum up her Scandi inspired style. Denise’s dining area includes white powder coated steel String Shelving, Eames DSW Dining Chairs, a Lightyears Caravaggio Pendant Light and carefully selected home accessories that add just enough contrast to the scene.
Okay, so Nina Holst isn’t exactly a newcomer on the interiors scene. @StylizimoBlog is actually the most read interior design blog in Norway and one glance over Nina’s Instagram account is enough to see why.
With regular posts documenting her home improvements, it’s Nina’s seasonal decor updates that keep me coming back for more. It doesn’t hurt that her home also contains furniture pieces from designer greats such as Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton and Charles & Ray Eames.
